Bicycle Registration

In Japan, bicycle registration is legally required to help prevent theft.
This system helps the police identify the owner and return the bicycle if it is stolen or lost.
Bicycle registration is valid for 10 years.
For registration, ownership transfer, or other procedures, please contact the bicycle shop where the bicycle was purchased.

Bicycle Liability Insurance

In Shizuoka Prefecture, bicycle users are required to have liability insurance. This rule has been in effect since October 1, 2019.
Please make sure that you are covered by bicycle liability insurance before riding.
If you are not sure whether you already have bicycle liability insurance, please check with your school, workplace, or insurance company.

TS Mark Insurance

The TS Mark is a bicycle safety inspection program that includes liability and accident insurance.
The TS Mark is issued after a bicycle has been inspected and serviced by a certified bicycle safety mechanic.
The TS Mark is valid for one year.
To renew the TS Mark, the bicycle must undergo a safety inspection every year.
